Institut de Parasitologie et de Pathologie Tropicale

The main research topics of the Laboratory of Medical Entomology are taxonomy and systematic by both morphological and molecular approaches. At least barcoding region is sequenced for a broad range of species. The comprehensive of complexes and groups of species is of major interest for the lab...

Icone IIKC IIKC is an Interactive Identification Key for Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) females from the western Palaearctic region. The key contents more than 1,000 illustrations (pictures, scheme and distribution maps) and allows identification of more than 100 species. The dedicated website www.iikculicoides.net offers the following services to users: (i) browse the database of characters and species online, (ii) identify online without local install, (iii) download and install the key onto personal computer according to the following operating systems available i.e. Windows XP/Vista/7, MacOsX and Linux.

The catalogue of the institutes's reference collection of the species belonging to the genus Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) is in process. To date, around 30% of the whole collection representing yet 20,000 specimens had been registred. The last update of the partial catalogue is available...
